When
is the winter season?
Generaly
December Janurary and Feburary. Obviously this is weather
dependant but you can usualy rely on it to be cold in
these months.
Where
are the alps?
South
of France, North of Italy, and a good part of Switzerland.
What
is different from summer/spring mountaineering?
Its colder, less rock fall and with any luck more ice.
Temperatures in Jan have been recorded down to -47 degrees
C, however in normal weather, in Janurary, at around
3000m, you can expect -6 to -25 degrees C. In the morning
still it can be qutie pleasant in the sun.
